We want to welcome 2022. with creative ideas, freedom, and experimentation. This month’s challenge is Abstract.
Your task: Remove contextual details from the image and create an abstract photo.
Abstract photography is all about telling a story through aesthetics and elements of composition rather than through a subject. Its main purpose is to evoke feelings, impressions, or sensations without focusing on the form of the subject in the picture. Abstract photographers often use a composition of different elements such as line, shape, form, texture, pattern, light, shadow, and color to create beautiful cohesive pictures. You can use fragments of natural scenes or stage a scene to create a seemingly unreal appearance from real objects.
Abstract photography doesn’t need to be complex and almost anything can be your subject. You can start by photographing everyday objects and try to envision how you can photograph them in a different yet appealing way. Play around with the composition, angle of view, lightings, and post-processing to create enchanting abstract photographs. Some other good methods for creating abstract photos are to shoot in macro, capture motion and lights, defocus or shoot through different objects such as glass or colored filters and gels.
Now it’s your turn to express your artistic nature. Have fun experimenting and release your inner creativity through abstract photography!
